Bio of Don Perry

Don began playing the saxophone at the age of nine, and continued to be active in the music program throughout his high school years. During the eighties, he played in a few local rock bands, this is when he first began performing as a vocalist.

After being away from music for about 10 years, while the kids were young, he once again picked up the sax and began playing a few of the melodies from years gone by. He soon realized that he wanted to do more than revisit the past. At this point, Don began to create his own music and has continued to do so ever since.

In May of 2002. he performed for the first time as a solo artist. It was at this gig, that he was introduced to audio engineer / producer, John Luttrelle, whom over the next 3 years worked closely with Perry to transform his ideas into structured songs. During this time, as he began playing more and more regularly, he also began writing lyrics, and added vocal performance to his show. While on stage, Don carefully crafted, nurtured and expanded his musical style. In the summer of 2005, Perry released his first Cd, entitled “Standing in the Shadows”, followed in 2006 by “Slide Over”.

Don Perry continues to perform as a solo artist at clubs, restaurants, wineries, corporate functions and festivals, primarily in Northern Ohio. Since his first solo performance, he has performed strictly original music, backed by the music he created and recorded with his fellow musicians. His music combines smooth, memorable melody lines with easy, relaxing rhythms, and meaningful lyrics. The end result being a musical style that is uplifting, enjoyable and easily understood.

Don continues to collaborate with John Lutrelle and drummer Pete LeMay and is currently promoting his 2009 release” Just Like That”.
